FISHER, William J, PO Whitesville; was born in Oldham Co KY, Oct 29, 1827; and settled in this co. in 1852; marr. Oct 29, 1851, Miss Louisa C, daughter of James and Phoebe MONTGOMERY, natives of Ky, who was b. on Sec 27, Sept 20, 1830; children's names are: Ada E (now Mrs. JM COHOON); Joe Edwin; Nanie B; Keziah J; Montgomery B; James A. and Anna Bella. Mr. F. began life a poor man, commencing the improvement of his present home in 1855, surrounded by the forest, but by hard labor, industry and economy has now a farm of 200 acres of fine land and engaged in farming and stock raising, his residence being Sec. 26 - typed by kbz

William J. FISHER, farmer and stock raiser, Whitesville, was b. on a farm near LaGrange, in Oldham Co, (sic) Oct 29, 1827. His father, Brandes Fisher, was b. March 15, 1797 in Shelby Co, Ky and here resided beneath the paternal roof until his marr, when he took up his residence in Oldham Co, where he was engaged in farming until his death, which occurred Dec 31, 1870. He received but a meager educ, but added thereto by a wide range of reading. March 15, 1821, he was marr. to Nancy MOUNT, daughter of John and Lydia (JENNINGS) Mount, who was b. in Oldham Co, Ky Feb 12, 1800. They were the parents of 6 children, 5 of whom are still living: John M; James M (d. Oct 20, 1826); William J; David O; Thomas C and Brandes. They were both Baptists and he a life-long democrat. William J. commenced for himself at the age of 20, working upon the home farm until his 24th year at which time (Aug 1852) he arrived in Mont. Co, after a five days' journey overland, accompanied with his wife, whom he had marr. in this co. the year previous. Upon his arrival he rented a farm of William Mount, where he labored with fair success 3 years. He then purchased 80 acres of his present farm upon which the dwelling stands and in Aug 1855 moved to a portion of his present house, situated in the green woods, and has here remained, making improvements from time to time, until he now has a well improved home and a farm of 210 acres. Oct 29, 1851 he was marr. in Union Twp, to Louisa Co, daughter of James and Phebe B. (FISHER) MONTGOMERY, who was b. in Shelby Co, Ky Sept 20, 1830. They are the parents of 9 children, 7 of whom are living: Ada A is marr. to JM COHOON ; Joe Edwin to Lizzie WALKER who died Nov 13, 1877; George M, bborn May 31, 1845; died Nov 16, 1863; Nannie B; Kizza J marr. to George W. ANDERSON ; Mount B. ; James A; Mary A. B. and Willie born March 7, 1870 d. July 12, 1870. Mr. Fisher is a member of the MIssionary Baptist Church and a democrat, casting his first presidential vote for Franklin Pierce, in 1852.  - typed by kbz
